1. Download Discord

Discord can be accessed through a browser, or you can download it to your PC or mobile devices. Here are the links to download Discord:

2. Create an account

Once you have downloaded Discord, you will need to sign up by filling in your email, username and password to create an account. After that, just click on "Continue" and you have successfully signed up. Remember to also verify your account as some servers (more about Discord server down below) might only accept verified accounts into their community. Check your email for this verification step.

3. Discord Server

Discord communities are divided according to servers. You can enter the server you want via the link provided by the community or through the search feature in the application. For example, if you wanted to join the CrepeToast server, you only need to click on this link.

For a detailed explanation on joining and creating a server, and also on privacy and notification setting, you can also refer to our blog titled how to join a Discord server.

4. Scams in Discord

There are a lot of benefits to using Discord. However, some also see this as an opportunity to swindle people online. These scammers could be phishing for your private information for malicious intent.

Sometimes, there could be scammers impersonating an administrator of a public server. They then give the target victim a link that is said to be a Discord Nitro promotion. The victim clicks the link and involuntarily gives personal credentials to the scammer.

One way to avoid this is to prevent other people from giving you a direct message using the privacy settings mentioned above. Another is to keep your guards up, and not believe 100% of what you read especially from someone you don't know.
